What did Confederate General Jubal A. Early mean when he told his troops to "holler them across"

Early referred to the famous "Rebel yell" When ordered to charge a Union force, Early's officers told the general the troops were out of ammunition, to which he replied, Dam it, holler them across, believing the fierce "Rebel yell" alone could in fact repulse the enemy
