For those who truly want to learn and understand about Texas and Texans in the CW, November 11 and 12 at the Barnhill Center in Brenham, Texas is fast approaching. Contact me at HTBAR1967©YAHOO.COM and I will send you registration information. We have an outstanding list of speakers for Saturday, not to mention catered BBQ for lunch.

• Wayne Motts, President & CEO, The Gettysburg Foundation:
“From Second Manassas to Gettysburg: The True
Story of a Texas Brigade Officer and a Union Artillerist”
How Col. Benjamin F. Carter, 4th Texas Infantry and Captain
Mark Kerns, Battery G, 1st Pennsylvania Light Artillery,
fighting on opposite sides, are connected through
kind acts. Motts has been a registered Gettysburg Guide
for over 30 years.
• Richard B. McCaslin, TSHA Professor of Texas History,
the University of North Texas: “A Glorious Time at Brenham:
The Tenth Reunion of Hood’s Texas Brigade Association
in 1881.” McCaslin is the author or editor of 19 books
and the recipient of multiple awards for his scholarship. He
is a great speaker who brings history alive.
• Scott Bowden, noted authority on Robert E. Lee: “Lee’s
leadership and the role of the Texas Brigade at The Wilderness.”
An award-winning author, Bowden’s current project
includes the groundbreaking multi-volume series, “Robert
E. Lee at War: The Mind and Method of a Great American
Soldier.
• John C. Perry, expert on Civil War weaponry: “Confederate
Handguns.” Perry has taken numerous leadership roles
in the Sons of Confederate Veterans, and is the author of
Galloping Thunder, Civil War Carbines, and Thunder In
Hand, Civil War Handguns.
