Dear Compatriots,
There will be numerous opportunities over the next few weeks to attend a Confederate Memorial Service. What follows is a list for the southwest Alabama area. Please make your plans to be present at some of them.

1. March 28, 2010 @ 2pm: The Anderson Camp of Grove Hill will host a service at Suggsville, Alabama [Clarke County]. From Grove Hill go east on US 84 through Watley. Turn right onto County Road 35. Go approximately 4 miles and the cemetery will be on the left. The road changes from pavement to gravel before you get to the turn off for the cemetery. We will have flags posted on County Road 35 at the entrance to the cemetery. The cemetery is just before you get to the Suggsville Historical Marker. Our compatriots at the Anderson Camp always do a wonderful job with their memorials. I am sure this year will be no exception.

2. April 11, 2010 @ 2pm: The Ft. Blakeley Camp of Baldwin County will host a service at Confederate Rest in the Point Clear Cemetery. This is a very special ceremony in that there are several hundred unknown Confederate soldiers buried in trenches at the cemetery. The Point Clear Cemetery is located across from the Grand Hotel in Point Clear, Alabama.

3. April 18, 2010 @ 2pm: The Admiral Raphael Semmes Camp will host a service at Confederate Rest in Magnolia Cemetery. Magnolia Cemetery is located off of Virginia and Ann Streets in Mobile. This year the Semmes Camp will honor some of their long term members.

4. April 24, 2010 @ 10am & 2pm: The Mississippi Division will host a very special day at Beauvoir. At 10am the new statue of President Davis and his sons will be dedicated. CiC Chuck McMichael will be the keynote speaker. Then at 2pm there will be a memorial service at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

5. April 24, 2010 @ 10:30am: The Alabama Division will host a service at the Confederate Monument on the Capitol grounds in Montgomery, Alabama.

6. April 26, 2010 @ 10:30am: The Alabama Division of the UDC will host a service at the Confederate Monument on the Capitol Grounds in Montgomery, Alabama.

7. May 1, 2010 @ 2pm: The Citronelle, Alabama, Historical Preservation Society will host the Surrender Oak Festival. As a part of this festival there will be a memorial service at the site of the Taylor surrender. This service takes place at the historical marker located in front of the Boy Scout camp. From 10am until 2pm there will be living history displays on the grounds of the Citronelle RR Museum. I would like to encourage our area reenactors to come and participate in this living history event.
