Welcome everyone to the new SHAPE website and message board. We've added a new look to our discussion board with several updated features. Try it out and see what you can do and also check out the new options for posting.

This general discussion forum is open to SHAPE members and non-members. Members and non members can also visit each of our areas located on the left side of the page simply by clicking on it blue highlighted link. We do have one link restricted for SHAPE members only.

This is a free use discussion forum. All posts, images, editorial, and other discussion posted to this forum becomes part of SHAPES history/database therefore they become property of SHAPE and may be used in any SHAPE project, heritage preservation issue, text or other media that SHAPE feels is appropriate for lending it's name to. SHAPE will make every to see that credit for your research is noted with usage. SHAPE will also make every effort limited to our expertise and knowledge to protect your email address. In essence we cannot do anything if you freely post it to the forum.

Please feel free to discuss any history related topic from the discovery of America up to yesterday. You are free to discuss various heritage issues, solutions, opinions, comments and actions. In order to make this a pleasant visit for everyone we ask you to follow a few basic rules:

1. History related or history making current events only please. At this time we ask you to stay away from political statements.
2. No commercial posts unless approved by SHAPE’s president
3. Absolutely no profanity or offhand references to drugs or alcoholic beverages unless in a historical manner.
4. Absolutely no insults or name calling allowed. This will result in an immediate ban from our website and/or loss of membership in SHAPE.
5. No badgering or nitpicking every word in a post. If you have a point to make, make it and move on.
6. When posting quotes and references be sure to post complete quotes as accurate as possible, also post sources or reference material.
7. Once the member’s forum is set up SHAPE projects and business will be discussed in the member’s forum only.
8. You do not need to join SHAPE in order to post to this board, nor do you need to join the message board to post. We would however like for you to leave a comment and consider joining us.

Thanks for stopping by, we'll leave the porch light on!

Mark Raines
SHAPE President

So SHAPE is also a womens mag--- Your point? If it is your intention to come here and disrupt this website and these forums rest assured it will not happen. This is your first and final warning. The choice is yours.

150 years later and it's STILL a heated discussion. The fact of the matter is
Lincoln's winning of the election caused session, since it was well warned it would happen if he was infact elected. The slavery issue will never go away since those certain folks will always remind us of that fact...get over it!! it didn't happen to you or anyone you knew, I think you folks have come along way since, so stop bitchin! those folks need be more concerned about their own, and why they over populate prisons and correctional institutions in America. The Civil War might have been avoided if the South was left alone to straighten out their own problems and not bullied by Washington politicians and those posion spreading Abolishinist about how wrong their way of life was.
Minding ones own business can go along way, the South never told the North how to live their life, it should have been returned the same. The South had every right to take arms against the North, like the Colonies did against the British, Sherman was a tyrant and the union army looted and killed many innocent Southerns, elderly and woman, and which rapings also took place, the burning of towns and cities, but it's all been excused by the spoiles of war. I feel for the people of the South during that time, but nothing can be changed, Libreals and Minorities have ruined this country, it's the worst it's ever been, and it will get worse since this President another Illinoing annoying idiot remains in office.
