Two TN Confedreate-clothing- in -schools cases head for 6th circuit appeals
May 18, 2007 US District Judge Thomas Varlan for the Eastern Tenn District denied a request for a preliminary injunction against the dress code of Anderson County, TN. Student Tom Defoe was suspended for refusing to remove the shirt he was wearing which depicted the Confederate Flag. Only 1 week later the same judge washed his hands with the Blount County Confederate apparel case therfore washing his hands of both cases. Both case will be appealed by the SLRC at the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati which oddly enough is the same court that overturned a lower court's similiar dismissal of a Confederate apparel case.
