Representative Hern,

The movement to remove the Reconciliation Monument from Arlington National Cemetery is driven by bigotry, hate, and divisiveness. This continuation of cultural genocide to remove all things Southern and Confederate from public view is the continuation of the war that never ended. The shooting stopped in 1865, but the political, social, and economic subjugation has continued. All other groups of people in this country are allowed to celebrate their heritage, but when it comes to descendants of Confederate soldiers, out come the hate-mongers, slanderers, and vile spewers of rewritten history to wrongly condemn the Confederate soldier and call him a "defender of slavery" and a "traitor". Massive ignorance of the true accounts of history is the reason we see this. Our schools and universities embrace lies and half truths and have indoctrinated generations of Americans with these fables.

President Mckinley came up with the idea of a "Reconciliation Monument" to bring the country together. He himself was a Union veteran of the war. The truth has not been told about the real causes of the war, and the numerous atrocities committed upon Southern civilians by the Union army during the war, and during Reconstruction (Occupation). We have never been able to tell our side of the story. The media, academia, and government keep that from happening. Anyone defending the South's point of view is immediately labelled a "racist" and considered not worthy of expressing their views.

I urge you to oppose this Naming Commission and their Marxist/communist agenda to remove this monument, and the Confederate bodies buried at Arlington.

Sincerely,

Jeff Paulk
