April is Confederate History Month. Please be collecting your information to post to this board. I would like a different post everyday on something related to Confederate history. Letters, stories and photos are the best. I will be posting some of the accomplishments of descendants of Confederates.

I will be out of town beginning April 23 or 24 until May 5th or 6th. Someone please plan to take up my slack during this period of absence

LOTS of activities going on throughout the South during the month of April. Check out SHAPE´s calendar and please do your best to participate and-or support an event near your hometown. Thanks! So far we have 14 events listed during April, but we know there are many more. Please click on the calendar and see whats happening and if you know of other events please feel free to add them.

Mark

George not sure what you mean by take up your slack, I will do what I can but it will be very little at best. I will be traveling that month as well back to Alabama and to Brazil so I think we will need to put the site on auto pilot if someone else is not ready, willing and able to take the stick.

Just need someone to post something related to Confederate History Month on those days we will not be here. Are you gonna make the affair in Tampa?

It depends on what date I get back from Brazil. Still trying to tightened my shot group on that trip this week. If everything works out I plan to make the trip to Tampa .

George my trip to Brazil has been canceled. The annual event for this year could not muster up enough support. REALLY SAD!...I will be in Alabama through the 2nd of May so I hope to try and make it to Tampa. I will let you know more once I am in Evergreen

If your local politicians won't cooperate - gee! isn't that a surprise! - then do it yourselves. Get the local SCV camps and UDC chapters to declare it and any other state wide historical societies to do so as well. Frankly, the government is more a hindrance than a help and its time that the People begin to act as we are SUPPOSED to act - independently of the damned government. We have gotten into the habit of waiting around for the government to lead the way - and that's NOT the "Confederate" way or even the (original) AMERICAN way.

Sorry to hear that, I expected more form Jindal. Luckily our current Governor made it Perpetual, but that’s not to say it cannot be changed. I guess he figured best to make it that way to avoid having to announce it every year. I do request a certificate/proclamation each year from his office and they send it out. I agree 110% with Lady Val, Randy your SCV Camp can place ads in your local papers, run ads on radio and announce/declare it yourselves. Randy also take 5 minutes of your time and write the Governor’s office. You can mention that his border States all designate April as Confederate History and Heritage Month.
